As a household name in the recording industry, Hal Blaine has the distinction of being the drummer on more chart hits, number ones and top fifties than any other drummer to date. He has drummed for the who’s who of the industry, artists, producers and composers encompassing the film and television industry and, of course, the recording industry.
Hal has the distinction of having played on the Grammy “Record of the Year” Award, for eight years, starting with the Herb Alpert ensemble “The Tijuana Brass”, “A Taste of Honey” and ending with “Love Will Keep Us Together” by The Captain and Tennille.
After 50 years as a member of The American Federation of Musicians, Hal has earned the right to retire. From The Beach Boys to Frank Sinatra and all of The Rat Pack, Hal has played it all, symphony concerts with Mason Williams and Simon and Garfunkel. He has played every major Las Vegas hotel and venues throughout the world with the likes of John Denver and Patti Page. He has played on The Count Basie Band and has recorded with the likes of Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers and many other great jazz players. He has played just about every genre of music including an album with Alla Rokka, The Great Timbalist with Ravi Shankar.
Hal has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and The Nashville Musicians Hall of Fame. He has lifetime achievement awards from the LA Weekly to the Canadian Yearly Drum Festival. He has done it all, seen it all, and is happily enjoying his retirement in the Palm Desert area
