I was born in Cuba. At an early age I was mesmerized by the rhythms of the comparsa on the streets. After seeing “Rock Around The Clock” I knew drumming would be my life long ambition and goal. By 1961 I relocated to New York City. One night my father took me to see Gene Krupa at the Metropole Café, the next day I had my first set of drums. I studied for three years at Henry Adler Music School on 34th Street. I performed with writer/singer, Valerie Simpson and recorded my first single with a gospel soul group “Reflections”, on Scepter Records. I relocated to Miami in 1972 and studied at Miami Dade Community College. At the same time performing with Spanish artists such as; Chirino, Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, (Miami Sound Machine), Jon Secada, Tito Puente, etc. In the late 70’s I recorded with “Max Damien”, on RCA records. In the 90’s I played in a band “Tumbling Dice”, with Bobby Keys & Mick Taylor of the “Rolling Stones” and recorded a CD with “KC and the Sunshine Band”. For the past 20 years, I have been the house drummer for the #1 Spanish Television Show “Sabado Gigante International” and the last 6 years “Don Francisco Presents”, both on “Univision Network” backing up Spanish artist such as, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin,Los Tigres del Norte etc.
